I lecture on a wide variety of topics involving computer crime. The training sessions below are designed to educate sworn law enforcement officials on the various ways that technology can be used to investigate crimes. Custom presentations are available based on your needs.


Online Investigation Recources (2 Hours)

This session identifies and demonstrates over 120 free online resources that can aid Investigators in solving both technical and non-technical crimes. Participants will be shown how to "dig" into the internet for personal information about any target. While popular sites such as MySpace and Facebook are covered in detail (including "backdoor hacks"), the presentation goes much deeper into the vast resources available online for researching personal information. Aside from web sites, other technologies such as digital camera data, document meta data, and data mining companies will be explained. Here is a partial list of resources that will be displayed live. How Hackers Commit Their Crimes (2 Hours)

This popular session focuses on recent trends in online fraud. This covers all of the internet scams, frauds, and ways that suspects steal identities, money, and data. Details of how hackers commit their crimes are displayed live, followed by steps any person can take to protect themself. The audience will learn immediately how data mining, password hackers, wireless networks, and cellular telephones are an emerging threat against their community. Free software solutions will be presented toward the end of the class. This session is recommended for any Investigator or Detective.


Technical Investigation Techniques
(2 Hours)
This class is only available to sworn Law Enforcement. The audience will be shown how to use various technologies to assist with any type on investigation. Topics include cellular telephone analysis and location services, IP Address identification, Email tracing, and the various data that can be obtained from content providers. All procedures will be explained from start to finish including preperation of search warrants and emergency requests. Digital templates will be available to all participants.


Child Safety on the Internet for Police Officers (2 Hours)

This session discusses how predators lure children into becoming victims, and how Police Departments can deter and investigate these crimes. Topics such as Cell Phone Hacking, MySpace, FaceBook, Cyber Bullying, Chat Rooms, and other forms of communication that predators use are demonstrated. Most of this session is conducted live on the Internet with real examples of the procedures discussed. Officers will leave with an understanding of the advanced dangers on the internet, and knowledge of simple steps that can be taken to prevent their communities' children from becoming victims. This session serves as a great introduction for Officers that will be tasked with presenting similar information to the public.

Introduction to Computer Forensics (2 Hours)
This lecture provides an in-depth starting point into the world of digital crime and the technology used to fight it. Real world examples are used to demonstrate the power of new hardware and software available to catch and prosecute online criminals. The audience will leave with an understanding of computer forensics and it's importance involving cyber crime. First responder procedures will be demonstrated. Free software will be distributed that will allow any Officer to conduct on-scene secure analysis for child pornography and other types of data.


Protecting an Officer's Personal Information
(1 Hour)
Police Officers are constantly at risk of being targeted by suspects. This course identifies publicly available vulnerabilities that expose sensitive information about Officers. Resources for eliminating this public and private data are explained as well as expected results. Online resources for eliminating personal information will be provided to all recipients.


Full Investigative Traiing Session (8 Hours)
This full day session will incorporate all of the above information. Several Police Departments combine with neighboring agencies to provide this class to all Investigators.
